Additions to current law are either shown at the beginning of a section with NEW SECTION meaning all of the language in the section will be new law, or shown by underlining words in a section of existing law. The removal of words from current law are shown with the strikethrough of words if you are using the "PDF" version. In the TXT version of legislative documents, these underlining and strikethrough do not show up. You must look for (+) for additions and (-) for deletions. The PDF document reader helps you quickly understand what is being added to current law or deleted from current law. A PDF readers is also very helpful in reading documents from many other sites on the Internet.
The PDF reader is FREE and it only takes a few minutes (depending on the speed of your connection) to download and load into your computer.
Below are the steps required:
If you want to download the PDF reader, we recommend you print out this information on paper so you can refer to it during the entire process.
1. After you have printed out this document on paper, click here to go directly to the site where you can prepare to download the PDF reader.
2. First, you must select one of the 4 PDF readers listed. The second one from the left below the chart and under the heading "Acrobat Reader" is the FREE one, so click on "Get Acrobat Reader" with "free!" below it.
3. In the Step 1 box select you only have to select the operating system for your computer using the arrow next to the white boxes. click on the arrow and then click on the operating system your computer is using. The box should go back to its regular size and show the operating system you selected.
4. In the Step 2 box you need to put your name and e-mail address. Then, decide if you want them to periodically send you information about their products by leaving the x in the box, or click on the x to make it go away saying you don't want them sending you information. The same goes for the box below that allowing them to provide your name and e-mail address to others.
4. Below Step 3 is a red DOWNLOAD button. Click on this button to download the PDF Rea5er.
6. Next, you will see a page of ads for Acrobat Products. Wait a few seconds and another window will appear asking if you want to download this to your disk. Click OK.
7. This is very important! It will show you where it will be downloading this file. You must know where this file is after you download it so you can open and install it. So look very carefully at this box. It likely is indicating it will download it to your "Documents" or "My Documents" file. This is a good place to have it downloaded to. Be sure to write down the name of the folder it will download the file to. Also, write down the name of the file it will be downloading. For Windows 95 the file name will be something like: ar405eng. The name of the file is in the box next to where it says "File Name".8. Then click "SAVE" and the downloading will begin.
9. After the files is completely downloaded, a message will come up on your computer screen saying the download was successful.
10. Now go to the location of the downloaded file and find the file name. You can do this by going to your computer's document directory. Now double-click on the file name and the file will open.
11. Now follow the simple directions as the file installs itself onto your computer. The program automatically installs itself and you don't really have to do anything.
1. When the document first appears on your screen, it will probably be too small for you to read. At the top of where the document is, is a toolbar. Go to the icon with the magnifying glass and the plus sign. Click on it. Now, go to the document and click on the document and it will make the document larger. If it gets too large, go to the icon at the top of the document page and click on the magnifying glass with the "-" sign in it. Then click on the document and it will make it smaller.
2. To move through the document, you can either use the arrows on the right side of your screen, or up on the toolbar above the document are two solid black arrows pointing left and right. The right solid arrow will move you farther into the document. The left solid arrow will move you back toward page 1 of the document. The solid arrows with the lines in front of them will take you to the end of the document or to the beginning depending on which one you select.
3. If you want to print the document or some portion of it, click on the printer icon on the far left end of the tool bar. You can select the who document, certain pages, or just the page you are on from the printing menu before you click on OK.
